CARDIOTOXICITY PROBLEMS IN CANCER PATIENTS AT THE STAGE OF CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIOTHERAPY
Abstract
Early diagnosis and the emergence of new methods of surgical treatment and chemoradiotherapy led to a significant increase in the relapse free period and life expectancy of cancer patients. The use of radiation therapy and many modern antitumor drugs is associated with the development of cardiovascular complications, which contributes to a significant increase in the mortality of patients. The review article presents current information on risk factors associated with both the use of antitumor drugs and the clinical characteristics of patients. A review of the literature data describing the variants of cardiovascular complications is presented. Questions that require further study to develop optimal management methods for this category of patients are formulated.
