Abstract

It is known that patients with metabolic syndrome have a significantly higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Each individual component of metabolic syndrome is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and the combination of these factors increases the incidence and severity of cardiovascular disease, including coronary atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Despite recent advances in understanding the etiology of metabolic syndrome, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain unclear. There are many pathogenetic aspects and signaling pathways that lead to the appearance and progression of cardiac complications in metabolic syndrome, and their better understanding may lead to the formation of new approaches to the therapy of this condition.
