PSYCHOLOGICAL STATUS AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE AND METABOLIC SYNDROME
Abstract
The article discusses anxiety and depressive disorders and the quality of life of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease, depending on the presence of metabolic syndrome. The influence of lifestyle modification and food preferences on the psychological status and quality of life in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and metabolic syndrome after a 12-month follow -up period was also considered. To implement the study, a general clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination was performed. Questionnaires were also conducted with the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. As a result of the study, it turned out that in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease in the presence of metabolic syndrome, a psychological examination revealed a predominance of anxiety and depression compared to patients with an isolated course of gastroesophageal reflux disease. When conducting prospective follow -up of patients, there was a statistically significant decrease in anxiety and depressive states in patients with adherence to non -drug measures to reduce body weight and change the nature of nutrition.
