Abstract

The lecture presents the terminology of substances that have a prebiotic effect on the human microbiome. The currently existing classifications of prebiotics are presented. The requirements that, according to the recommendations of the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP), must comply with substances and chemical compounds for inclusion in the prebiotic group. The characteristics of the main prebiotics, the mechanism of influence on a person and indications for their use in pediatric practice are given.
