Abstract

Whipple’s disease (BU) is a rare chronic systemic infectious disease caused by the gram-positive bacterium Tropheryma whipplei (TW). BU is a multisystem disease with variable clinical symptoms, which creates difficulties for the timely diagnosis of BU. Currently, the diagnosis of BU is based on the detection of the presence of TW in various tissues and body fluids by several methods, PAS-positive macrophages are detected during histological examination or examination of the DNA of the pathogen by PCR in biopsies. These diagnostic methods that have appeared have expanded the possibility of detecting BU in patients. The article presents the own clinical observation of a patient who has been diagnosed with BU.
