Abstract

Background. The mother’s nutrition during pregnancy affects the formation of the future baby, its condition at birth and health in later life. The study of the actual nutrition of pregnant women, their social status, the course of pregnancy and concomitant pathologies is necessary to understand the nutritional status of expectant mothers and the possibilities for creating a full fledged diet. Purposes and tasks. To study the peculiarities of the course of pregnancy, the social well being of the family and the nutrition of modern expectant mothers. Materials and methods. Anonymous survey of 35 pregnant women, participants of courses of expectant mothers. The results. The average age of pregnant women falls on the most favorable period for childbirth - 25-35 years. Most women have a first planned pregnancy, higher education and average material wealth. Food expenses accounted for 57 % and were the priority monetary expenses for the family. The main harm during pregnancy is prolonged work on the computer. During pregnancy, concomitant pathology from the gastrointestinal tract and the endocrine system is often noted, the least number of diseases accompanying pregnancy occurred at the age of up to 25 years. The increase in body weight is physiological only in half of the respondents. The survey revealed unacceptable behavior of women in the early stages of pregnancy: smoking (11 %) and drinking alcohol (14 %). Many interviewees changed their diet, noted the appearance of food addictions, 100 % of women took vitamins, biologics, 20 % - special food for pregnant women. Conclusions. The study showed that in women under 25 years of age occurred least number of concomitant pathologies in pregnancy. All the women surveyed had a socially responsible attitude towards future motherhood. Pregnant women pay attention to their nutrition and show care in matters of enriching the diet, preferring vitamin and mineral complexes to products of specialized nutrition for pregnant women.
