Levobupivakaine, what is known about the use in children? (review)
Abstract
The literature review presents the possibilities of using levobupivacaine for various regional blockades in children. Relevant papers were obtained by searching Pubmed and Scopus databases. In clinical situations requiring prolonged local anesthesia with caudal blockade in newborns and young children, the use of levobupivacaine is a safer alternative to bupivacaine. In most studies in children, in contrast to those in adults, there was no significant difference in the power and duration of motor blockade between levobupivacaine and ropivacaine. Studies in children of different ages comparing levobupivacain and ropivacain indicate the same or greater analgesic potential of levobupivacain with a similar level of safety. Research should be continued to compare the effectiveness of different concentrations of levobupivacaine and ropivacaine in larger groups of pediatric patients.
