Abstract

The article demonstrates a clinical case of a rare clinical manifestation of Wegener’s disease, which was debuted with symptoms of acute otitis media. A feature of this observation is the isolated clinical symptoms of acute otitis media, which are uncharacteristic of the onset of Wegener’s disease: ear pain, hearing loss, otorrhea, while lesions of the middle and inner ear are not specific to Wagener’s granulomatosis. The described symptoms were the only ones at the onset of the disease, which significantly complicated both the diagnosis of the disease and the initiation of treatment, while the prognosis of the disease largely depends directly on how quickly treatment is started. Our experience in the treatment and observation of the presented patient reflects the importance of being especially alert to this disease in case of persistent, difficult-to-treat acute inflammatory pathology of the ENT of any location, including the ear, with the aim of timely initiation of treatment.
