Translation and transliteration
If the publication is written in Russian (in Cyrillic) and there is an official translation into English, you should provide this option. If there is no official translation, you should translate the title of the publication into English yourself. Specify the language of the publication in parentheses at the end of the description.
If the cited article is written in English (German, Spanish, Italian, Finnish, Danish, and other languages that use the Roman alphabet), the link to it should be given in the original language of publication both in the list of references and in References. Example (article in a Norwegian magazine in Norwegian):
Ellingsen AE, Wilhelmsen I. Sykdomsangst blant medisinog jusstudenter. Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen. 2002;122(8):785–787. (In Norwegian).
Transliteration standard. For transliteration, we recommend using the BGN (Board of Geographic Names) system, see the site http://www.translit.ru
Full names of authors and editors. The names and initials of all authors in Latin should be given in the reference as they are given in the original publication. If the original publication already contains the full names of the authors in Latin, this option should be indicated in the link to the article (regardless of the transliteration system used in the original source). If in official sources (on the journal's website, in базахdatabases, including eLibrary) Full names of authors are not given in Latin. They should be transliterated in the same way as in previous publications or using the BGN system.
Name of the publication. If the cited work has an official translation into English or an English-language version of the title (you should search for it on the journal's website, in базахdatabases, including eLibrary), you should specify it. If the official sources do not specify the title of the publication in Latin, you should translate it into English yourself.
Name of the publication (magazine). Some non-English-language scientific publications (journals) have an official "parallel" name in English in addition to the name in their native language (for example, the journal "Diabetes Mellitus" has an official English-language name "Diabetes Mellitus"). Thus, for the References list, the link to an article from a Russian-language journal should contain either a transliterated title of the journal or a translated one. You can take the translated title of the journal either from the official website of the journal (or use data on the correct spelling of the English-language title from the cited article), or check its presence in the database, for example, in the CAS Source Index, the WorldCat library or the Web of Science (ISI) catalog, the MedLine database names MedLinecatalog (NLM Catalog), PubMed. If the journal does not have an official name in English, the References should be transliterated according to the BSI system. You should not translate the names of magazines yourself.
Place of publication. The place of publication in links should always be indicated in English and in full, that is, Moscow, and not "Moscow" or " M.:", Saint Petersburg, and not "Sankt Saint Petersburg" or "SPb"SPb.
Name of the publisher. The publisher's name References should only be transliterated for References (except in extremely rare cases when the publisher has a parallel official English-language name).
Orders, decrees, ordinances, and other official documents, as well as patents, are transliterated.
