The state of medical aid to foreign students in Saint-Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University

Abstract

Professional training of foreign students in Russian Federation depends significantly on social and economic living conditions in the country of residence. Students from Central Asia show low level of medical activity. According to questionnaires 61 % of students have no concerns of their state of health. Even considering risk factors only a half of all foreign students implements health promotion measures regularly. Despite of the availability of private medical insurance over 40 % of all foreign students do not apply neither to medical setting of the university or to private health care facilities. Students prefer self-treatment or either or help of acquainted doctors, sometimes using urgent medical aid in case of emergency.
