Abstract

Survival analysis is not a unique prerogative of demography, but it is widely used in medicine and biology, insurance, government’ management, marketing and advertising. Purpose of the study: To investigate the survival up to a new chronic non -infectious disease of workers at a large industrial enterprise using data from a five -year study of a real cohort to investigate the possibility of using this technology in Public health care planning. A study of a real cohort of workers of a large machine -building industrial enterprise in the city of Tver, with a total number of workers of about 800 people, was carried out. The study included 414 employees who, according to a special assessment of working conditions, were subject to periodic medical examinations. Over the five years of follow -up, 79 cases of new chronic non -communicable disease (CNСD) in men and 30 cases in women of different age groups were identified. Based on the data on the age -specific incidence, the calculation of five -year life -tables of a hypothetical cohort to new CNСD was calculated. Life expectancy without any СNCD for men has been regularly decreasing from the initial 24.4 years to 2.5 years in the oldest age group. At the beginning of their professional activity, the duration of women’s life without any CNCD was longer (26.9 years), but the decrease was more dramatic. The cumulative survival to a CNCD for men of any age was different from that one for women. The gap was increasing from minimal at a young age, to 12 % at the age of 60. However, the differences were not statistically significant. Since the surveyed workers represent the total amount of the stuff who, under the special assessment of working conditions, was subject to potentially harmful factors the research data can be used for interim purposes without implementation of analytical statistical methods, as the results of a study of the general totality. At the same time, the issue of generalized data for the entire stuff of workers under similar conditions remains outside the limits of this study.
