CONTRIBUTION OF ACADEMICIANS-GRADUATES OF THE KUBAN MEDICAL INSTITUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOVIET HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN THE POST-WAR PERIOD
Abstract
Еhe article discusses the achievements of scientists - graduates of the Kuban Medical Institute named after Red Army, in the process of restoration and development of medical science and education of the USSR in the period after the Great Patriotic War. One of the most notable representatives of this generation is Alexander Alekseevich Shalimov, an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. A home front worker, during the war years and after the end of the war, he was engaged in the development of domestic surgery, developed and improved operational techniques and instruments, was the founder of the world famous surgical school. Academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences Sergey Grigorievich Drozdov developed measures to combat viral diseases such as poliomyelitis, tick -borne encephalitis, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome and rotavirus gastroenteritis. His research successfully reduced the incidence and helped to stop the spread of poliomyelitis in Russia. Mikhail Georgievich Shandala - Academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences made a significant contribution to the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, developed a wide range of hygienic standards in the field of professional hygiene. His works on establishing the mechanism of the pathogenic effect of cement dust, as a production factor, contributed to the recognition of a separate nosological form of lung pathology - cement silicosis. Evgeniy Konstantinovich Ginter - Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an internationally recognized specialist in the field of genetics and epidemiology of hereditary diseases, participated in the implementation of a set of works on the genetics of common chronic diseases. Alisa Grigorievna Bukrinskaya - Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, a world -renowned authority in the field of molecular biology, was the head of the laboratory of viral biosynthesis, for the first time in the country -conducted studies characterizing the replication of the human immunodeficiency virus, analyzed the structure of its viral particles. The contribution of these famous scientists to the development of medical science during the recovery of the country allowed not only to effectively develop industry and social life, but also to significantly increase the level of the domestic health care system.
