MEDICAL AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF HEALTH OF RURAL SCHOOL CHILDREN
Abstract
state of health of the younger generation in our country in recent years presents a serious state problem, which greatly influences economic and social well-being of society now and in future. A study, aiming at the assessment of the health status of schoolchildren of grades 7–11 living in
rural areas, was conducted at the Municipal Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 1” in the town Dno in the Pskov Region, using the questionnaire of schoolchildren and their parents, the mode of life of schoolchildren was studied, a subjective assessment of children's health was conducted, the influence of the medical and social characteristics of the family in the self-assessment of the health status of schoolchildren was examined, and gender characteristics of the self-evaluation of children's health were revealed. Based on the data extraction from the primary medical documentation, an objective assessment of the health status of rural schoolchildren was carried out. It is established that schoolchildren living in rural areas have a satisfactory state of health by the majority of indicators. The parents' assessment of the state of their children's health is lower than the self-assessment of children. The medical and social characteristics of the family affect the self-esteem of the child's health. There are gender differences in the self-assessment of the health of boys and girls studying in grades 7–11 and residing in rural areas.
