is manifested exclusively in women during pregnancy. In order to develop a prognosis for the incidence
of gestational diabetes in the Russian Federation and in the North-West Federal District, official
statistic reports and publications of the Federal State Statistics Service and the Federal Research
Center of Scientific and Technical Information of the Ministry of Health of Russia for 2005–2017
were analyzed. Statistical processing of the results and data analysis was carried out using the computer
programs Microsoft Office Excel and the software package for statistical analysis developed
by StatSoft-Statistica 7.0. The study conducted a comprehensive assessment of the incidence of gestational
diabetes in the Russian Federation and in the North-West Federal District. It was established
that the incidence rate of diabetes in pregnant women in 2017 in the North-West Federal District was
7.01 ± 0.21 per 100 women who completed the pregnancy, which significantly exceeded the level of
the same indicator for the Russian Federation, which was 4, 45 ± 0.15 (differences are significant
p≤0.05). In the Russian Federation and in the North-West Federal District, an increase in the incidence
of gestational diabetes was observed in 2005–2017. The level of the indicator in the Russian
Federation grew by 27.8 times over the years studied, and in the North-West Federal District 25.4
times. According to the forecast, if the factors influencing the incidence remain unchanged, the expected
rate of increase in incidence relative to 2017 in the Russian Federation will be 34.8%, and in
the North-West Federal District — 35.5%.
