PECULIARITIES OF MEDICAL-OCIAL AND CLINICAL STATISTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS OBTAINING OPHTHALMOLOGICAL HELP
Abstract
In order to make an assessment of the medical social and clinical statistical characteristics of ophthalmological patients at an outpatient department compared to the in patient department, a study was conducted in the Children's Medical and Rehabilitation Complex by V.A. Almazov. To achieve this goal, 730 outpatient cards and 397 inpatients cards were analyzed. It has been established that the majority of outpatients in the Children's Treatment and Rehabilitation Complex pay themselves for the consultation of an ophthalmologist due to refusal of the local polyclinics to issue referrals to the center. Inpatient admission is characterized by the predominance of initial consultations while in course of outpatient examination the proportion of initial consultations was 65%. The leading pathology revealed while an outpatient examination is a refractive error (27.2%) and inflammatory diseases of the eye and adnexa (13.6%). The main pathology viewed among inpatients is background retinopathy (19.6%) and retinopathy of prematurity (15.8%). Almost all inpatients either were not examined by the local ophthalmologist, or were not fully examined, which entails a high percentage of exessive appointments made by the ophthalmologist of the Children's Treatment and Rehabilitation Complex and enlargement of the doctor's working load.
