MEDICAL CARE FOR CHILDREN WITH NERVOUS SYSTEM DISEASES IN THE CLINIC OF SAINT-PETERBURG STATE PEDIATRIC MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (TO THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLINIC)
Abstract
The article deals with the history and modern activities of the clinic and the Department of neurology, neurosurgery and medical genetics of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, the oldest institutions of this profile not only in the country but also in the world. Established in 1929, the clinic for 90 years of its existence has helped thousands of children, and has become the basis for priority research in pediatric neurology. Human development is characterized not only by calendar age, but also by stages of physical and psychological maturation. Each age period requires study and special knowledge, taking into account the principles of classical neurology, topical and syndromological diagnosis. Currently, the neuropsychiatric Department of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University provides treatment and rehabilitation of the most complex contingent of patients aged 0 to 18 years in need of rehabilitation treatment of neurological pathology. The main principles of treatment of patients with neurological pathology include strict individual approach alongside complex nature of medical measures. The clinic provides qualified medical care in the specialty “Neurology”, uses modern methods of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, permitted for use in medical practice. Over the 90-year period of its existence, the friendly work of the clinic and the Department, united by mutual goals and responsibility, selfless dedication of the staff, put the clinic on one of the leading places in Russia and the near abroad, where highly qualified medical care is provided to children with various neurological diseases.
