Peer review
All scientific articles received by the editors of the journal "Children's medicine of the North-West" undergo mandatory double-blind peer review (the reviewer does not know the authors of the manuscript, the authors of the manuscript do not know the reviewers). Reviewing articles is not paid.
1. Reviewing of articles is carried out by members of the editorial board and the editorial board, as well as invited reviewers - leading experts in the relevant field of medicine in Russia and other countries. The decision to select a reviewer for the examination of an article is made by Ch. editor, deputy ch. editor, executive secretary of the editorial board. The review period is 2-4 weeks, but at the request of the reviewer it can be extended.
2. Each reviewer has the right to refuse a review if there is a clear conflict of interest affecting the perception and interpretation of manuscript materials. Based on the results of the manuscript review, the reviewer makes recommendations on the further fate of the article (each decision of the reviewer is justified):
• the article is recommended for publication in its current form;
• the article is recommended for publication after the correction of the deficiencies noted by the reviewer;
• the article requires revision and re-review;
• the article needs additional review by another specialist;
• An article cannot be published in a journal.
3. Authors of articles without fail get acquainted with the reviews, for which the executive secretary of the editorial office sends the author the text of the review and a cover letter, as well as the text of the article with editorial comments that need improvement.
4. The review is submitted to the author (s) in print, or sent by e-mail with a notification of reading the message. The fact of familiarization with this is considered confirmation by the author (s) of the fact of receiving the review.
5. If you agree with the comments of the reviewer, the authors of the article are entitled to amend it and submit the article again. Authors are also encouraged to submit a written response to the comments of the reviewer. The review procedure is repeated. The date the article was received by the editor is the date it was last submitted after editing. Finalization of the article should not take more than 2 months from the moment of sending an electronic message to the authors about the need to make changes. The article finalized by the author is re-sent for review.
6. With minor comments requiring only editorial changes, and with the consent of the authors, a decision may be made on accepting the article for publication.
7. If the authors refuse to finalize the materials, they must in writing or verbally notify the editorial office of their refusal to publish the article. If the authors do not return the revised version after 3 months from the date of sending the review, even if there is no information from the authors with a refusal to finalize the article, the editors remove it from the register. In such situations, the authors are sent a corresponding notice on the removal of the manuscript from registration due to the expiration of the time allotted for revision.
8. If the author and reviewers have encountered insoluble contradictions regarding the manuscript, the editorial board has the right to send the manuscript for additional review. In conflict situations, the decision is made by the editorial board.
9. The decision to refuse to publish the manuscript is made at a meeting of the editorial board in accordance with the recommendations of reviewers. An article not recommended for publication by the decision of the editorial board is not accepted for re-consideration. A refusal to publish is sent to the author by e-mail.
10. After the editorial board of the journal makes a decision on the admission of the article to publication, the editorial office informs the author about this and indicates the date of publication.
11. The presence of a positive review is not a sufficient basis for the publication of an article. The final decision on publication is made by the editorial board.
12. The originals of reviews are kept in the editorial office of the journal for 5 years.
13. The editorial office of the publication sends copies of reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation upon receipt of the corresponding request by the editorial office.
14. Not subject to mandatory review:
• interviews and reports from round tables, conferences, etc .;
• materials dedicated to anniversaries and memorable dates, as well as obituaries;
• informational, informational and advertising messages and announcements
