Abstract

The relationship of biological maturation with the type of Constitution in 369 preschool children and 125 school children over 3-17 years was analyzed. At different ages, maturity was assessed by somatic, odontological criteria, and puberty. The relationship between different criteria for biological maturity (somatic, odontological, and sexual maturity) and somatotype is ambiguous and depends on the child’s gender. The development of children and adolescents is characterized by a close relationship between the leading parameters of the physique, the degree of biological maturity, the components of body weight and the harmony of proportions; the nature of this relationship depends on the somatotype, gender, and phase of ontogenesis in which the child is located.
