Abstract

The purpose of the research is the assessment of different types of eating behavior and the quality of life analysis of patients with the longitudinal resection of the stomach due to overweight. Methods: the Russian-language version of the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire, DEBQ), the Russian-language adapted version of the SF-36 - health status survey. Results: 37 patientswith the longitudinal resection of the stomach due to overweight, mean age 43,49±1,534 years, 23 women, 14 men. The average body weight of patients is 130,92±3,913 kg (range - from 99,0 kg to 189,0 kg). The average value of body mass index (BMI) is 44,11±1,052. The men’s BMI was significantly higher than women’s (p=0,024 in Mann-Whitney U). BMI of one patient corresponded to moderate obesity, of 9 patients - severe obesity, of 27 patients - extremely severe obesity. The mean values (M, σ) were: the “Restrictive eating behavior” scale - 2,72 (0,53), the “Emotional eating behavior” scale - 2,68 (0,93), the “External eating behavior” scale - 3,42 (0,58). These average values compared to the reference values of the German sample (Nagl M., Hilbert A., de Zwaan M. et al., 2016) were significantly higher. The correlation relationships of the DEBQ and SF-36 Spearman scales were researched. The age of the patients correlated inversely with the scale “Physical functioning” (ρ=-0.543) and the scale “The effect of physical condition on role-playing ” (ρ=-0,495). The “restrictive eating behavior” scale directly correlated with the “Viability” scale (ρ=0,521), and the “External eating behavior” scale back with the “General health” scale (ρ=-0,487). The further research’s perspectivesare the exploration of more homogeneous patients samples in order to study the mechanisms of emotional regulationparticularly, the level of anxiety and depression of patients.
