ORGANIZATION OF HISTOLOGY TEACHING, CYTOLOGY AND EMBRYOLOGY AT THE PEDIATRIC FACULTY OF SMOLENSK STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Abstract
The article describes the teaching of histology, cytology and embryology at the Faculty of Pediatrics of the Federal State Budgetary Educational institution of Higher Education “Smolensk State Medical University” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation at the present stage. An integrated approach to the educational process is considered, taking into account the formation of the specifics of teaching at the pediatric faculty, including various teaching methods, the preparation of educational literature, visual aids. The process of interdepartmental interuniversity interaction for the exchange of information materials and specific educational preparations using the website is being updated. Special attention is paid to the motivation of students for the qualitative study of the subject material, due to the fact that when studying it, problems arise that are characteristic of such a difficult and extremely extensive morphological discipline. Among these difficulties, the following stand out: the minimum amount of information received from questionable sources during self-preparation, memorizing entire chapters of a textbook, verbatim reproduction of educational material without understanding it, lack of skill in searching for the described structures in microphotographs presented in atlases, tables. The team of authors draws attention to the important criteria necessary in the process of preparing educational literature and when searching for sources of information so necessary for teaching students. The method of quality control of students’ education is described, which includes several stages and forms. The key features of the algorithm for conducting intermediate certification for students of the pediatric Faculty at the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology are revealed.
