ASSESSMENT OF THE QUALITY OF CARE AND ORGANIZATIONAL PROBLEMS OF INFERTILITY TREATMENT BY ART
Abstract
Overcoming the demographic crisis remains one of the fundamental tasks of the country’s state policy, a significant obstacle to the solution of which is the increase in the number of reproductive problems among the population. When developing and adopting organizational and managerial measures aimed at improving the processes of providing medical care by in vitro fertilization (IVF), special attention should be paid to analyzing the opinions of obstetricians and gynecologists. In this regard, according to a specially developed questionnaire, obstetricians and gynecologists (189 specialists) who work in medical organizations in St. Petersburg (24 medical organizations) were interviewed anonymously in 2021. As a result of the study, low rates given by specialist doctors to the work of women’s consultations (3.6 ± 0.8 points) and city polyclinics (3.1 ± 0.5 points) were revealed. It is noteworthy that among all the problems in the organization of medical care, both for women and for male patients, the first place is taken by an untimely made diagnosis of infertility. The frequency of such responses in relation to female patients was 69.1 per 100 interviewed doctors, and in relation to male patients — 81.8 per 100 interviewed doctors. The analysis showed that, despite its widespread introduction in the Russian Federation of IVF and its proven effectiveness, a number of problems remain unresolved at present, primarily due to restrictions on the availability of this medical care, as well as non-compliance with the principles of its continuity at certain stages of provision.
